The El Dorado All-Stars are thrilled to have a great line-up of local talent featuring John Calloway on piano. Aside from being a valuable member of the El Dorado Elementary School staff, John is an extremely accomplished musician and composer-arranger. He has performed on stages across the globe with some of the biggest names in Latin music and has played on and written music for three Grammy-nominated albums. He will be releasing his own CD in June and will be having a CD release party at Yoshi's.
The El Dorado All-Stars percussion section consists of Eric Mendez, Ryan Chesire, and Rachel Bouch. Eric and Ryan are both busy free-lance percussionists who can be seen on any given night at local salsa clubs. Rachel, besides teaching privately and in local bay area schools, is busy with her own group LoCura!. They play a modern fusion of flamenco, reggae, Cuban son, and American folk music. Also on board for the show is Endre Balogh and Kenneth Hawkins. Endre is a performer and music educator. He is the director of the "Toones Academic Music Program" which aims to enrich children's understanding of music and mathematics through combining the two. You can check out Endre's work at music-enrichment.org. Kenneth is also a free-lance musician who fronts his own band called Orquesta Falcon.
This will be the El Dorado All-Stars first and only performance as a band, although the bit and pieces will most certainly reconvene in smaller portions in the future. Their music consists of classic Latin and Cuban standards.
